Chapter 7

Ammo

I put my feet up on the table, mostly to mess with the lower ranks. Most guys were surprised when they joined up and found out I was one of the founders. I knew there were a couple of up-tight members who it really took the piss out of them that I was in charge, so sometimes I like to take an especially casual approach to Church. Buzz and Tank let me get away with it because they knew I always took it seriously at heart, and because it did the footmen some good to be messed with every once and a while. Kept them on their toes. Though, that maybe our military training talking, who knows.

Most of the meeting is Tank and Buzz talking to one another in an official capacity. This was stuff they had already discussed in private, they just needed a public record of the stuff the club was doing. Got to make sure our membership knows how active we are and all that.

“So,” Tank says with an almost bureaucratic sigh, “How’s that business with your sister going?”

Buzz cleared his throat. I doubt they hadn’t planned out talking about this before, but there was probably a bit of debate on the matter. Now Buzz was the one that opted for Tank to be the leader, and arguing with Tank meant, in his own mind, admitting he was wrong. It was a hell of a catch 22 he painted himself into. Maybe he did it on purpose to keep himself in line. Kind of fucked up.

“We fucked up the guy who ran out on my sister. Little piece of shit had been hiding out in a motel. He had been trying to scrape together enough money to buy fake identification so he could get set up somewhere else and leave my sister high and dry. We made sure that he wasn’t going anywhere, Ammo and I.”

I nod in collaboration. Usually, I have a little more input at church, but right now my mind was on the buxom redhead waiting for me upstairs and less about making the other members laugh.

Buzz continued, “Turned out he had been running up with that local dealer, Dino I think his name is.” There was a small grumble of acknowledgment from the crowd. “Which meant that, in Dino’s mind, she owed him money. He was pretty understanding but said he simply couldn’t let that money go. He told us he answers to too many people who would put his balls in a vice. I told him that I could provide him the same product for a fraction of the price, more than enough to make his money back. If he wanted to be our primary contact all he had to do was wipe out my sister’s debt. We shook on it and done is done.”

The crowd seemed pleased with the result, muttering in approval of the methods as well as the progress into our soon to be profitable drug trade.

Tank nods in approval.
